Hi, I hope you're having a good madness day - I kinda didn't because I was at school. I'm just making this post quickly so I can get back to watching the new flashes over in the portal.

School was boring as ever. The usual day, maybe just a bit less boring than most days, but still very boring.

First session was english, recently, it's been better than most subjects but still not one of my favourite subjects.

Second was science. Science, on the contrary, was one of my favourite subjects in my earlier years, but this year, I'm not as keen on it.

Third was geography. Geography is one of my least favourite subjects, I used to like it, but my teacher is really annoying and makes me feel like bunking off every single lesson.

Fourth was food tech. A lot better, though since we're only in the lowest year of school, our first few weeks are just paperwork and similar shit.

Fifth was art history, this subject is in my favourite 3. I would've preferred to be doing art tech (computer graphics and animation) but I can't complain.

Overall, a good day for a normal school day...but shitty for madness day.

Now I'm getting over to the portal for a while, then over to the Flash and Wi/Ht forums, after that I'll work on me and argentin's game for a while.

A quick rant:

Ok, so I've recently started taking longer writing my reviews, for two or three submissions I've spent over half an hour on. Almost all the flashes I take over half an hour on get blammed. Meaning my review is lost and the author can't respond. I've attached 2 reviews that I've spend more than half an hour on and the submission has been blammed, keep in mind that I can't find the reviews that I've spent up to an hour on:

1. Submission - The Stick Fight - Rating: 8/10, 4/5- Review:

A well animated stick movie. Expand on it and you could get a good score.

A few tips:
1. Make an icon for it - People expect flashes without icons to be bad, therefore many users will vote 0 without watching it.
2. Give a more original name - With a title like 'The stick fight' users will vote 0, expecting the usual, crappilty animated, choppy animation.

Just those 2, having it look like that from the flash portal main page will make spam voters think it's of low quality and vote 0 without watching. Now, something about the actual animation:

Animation:9/10:
Very well animated, it caught the action well and impressed me a lot.

Sound:0/10:
No sound, add some and people will vote higher.

Art:No rating:
No background and objects, so all art will all fit into animation

Humour: No rating:
A simple fight animation, no humour needed.

Presentation:Again, no rating:
No menus or anything that would need to have good presenation

Preloader:5/10:
I'm glad you added a preloader, but I only give good marks for this if you created your preloader yourself.

Style:8/10:
I love stick figures but they're very overused.

Violence:10/10:
Very well done. Worked well.

V-Camming:9/10:
Excellent use of the V-cam technique.

Execution:10/10:
Very nicely created. It worked very well.

Overall A great flash. If this is blammed it will only be because of the spam 0 bombers voting before watching. Maybe add a longer, more constructive comment and keep working on this. If this was long enough, had a more original title and had sound it, you could well get featured on the frontpage.

2. Submission - Garage V3- Rating: 7/10, 3/5 - Review:

Lets start out that I liked this flash but the idea of a 'design a car' flash is too unoriginal and this flash needs something to contrast it from the thousands of other flashes similar to this. This flash, instead of having hundreds of customisable features and addons, this flash seemed very plain and had very little to offer. A few suggestions for IF you want to create future games similar to this would be a way to swap the colour of the car, this could be achieved with simple coding on an MCs (PM me for if you want help and you're doing it in AS2, if you're using AS3 then I can offer no help) some decals (for example flames) some adjustable styles for things like tinted windows, lights, and boot through arrow buttons.

A few suggestions that would require a slightly more advanced knowledge of actionscript: Depth options, an option to swap the depth of the symbols used in the flash, Scale options, an option to scale the movieclips used in it. Rotation, not too advanced but it isn't VERY simple like those in the above paragraph.

There are more points that I've most probably forgotten but if I remember them I'll PM them to you.

Both of these took long and the authors probably wouldn't know to look into the obituaries to see the review and therefore won't see the review meaning they wouldn't be able to learn from it.

I've spent long on those reviews, and a lot more, just to have them put into obituaries.

I'm also pissed off that those submissions were blammed because, a lot of them, were of high enough quality to pass. Compared to some of the flashes of half, or less, the quality of the submissions reviewed, whether the flash be spam, or just bad flash.

If you read all this then wow.

So, about a month ago I made a great threads post, it didn't get much attention but I enjoyed seeing the few comments on it and looking around for the threads, so I thought I might as well post a great flash (movies) thread. I'll start out with some of the high rated/ popular flash and then I'll go onto some of the flash that, in my opinion, are underrated. I've only put the most recent flashes in series' because it would take up too much space, Tankmen infinity is on as well as Tankmen 2 because infinity was created by picanjo while 2 was created by JohnnyUtah.

Popular High Quality Flash

1. Waterlollies. A great flash, amazing visuals combined with a well written (though extremely cliche) story

2. There she is!!! Step 4. Currently the highest rated flash on newgrounds, it reached a peak in the score at 4.78/5. The music, combined with emotion helped the story along nicely.

3. Metal Gear Awesome 2. Perhaps the most successful flash in the amazingly funny 'Awesome' series by Egoraptor, (who recently turned 21).

4. Tankmen 2. A great addition to the series that has had a lot of attention given to it by flash artists and received a lot of parodies and tributes.

5. Tankmen Infinity. A Tankmen flash by Pikanjo, very funny and well animated.

I know there is hardly any here but I don't have time now, I'll update a lot on later.

Underrated Movies

1. The adventures of Mr. Bob. Amazingly random, a masterpiece.

Ok, I know I REALLY don't have much but I'm out of time, I'll update a lot more on soon, I hope to get at least 30 flashes on this by the time I stop updating.

Not much progress on the production side but I've now made the icon. Since the ButtonFinder2 icon sucked so bad and number one's icon looked a lot better I've created the new one based on the first icon. Here it is attached below:

Just another level, the audio and the password to sort out of ButtonFinder 3 before the submitting. If you're a fan remember to wait at the portal with your fives at the ready...

As many of you know I only carried on the series after 2 but because I, at that moment didn't have the programming skills to progress much.

Now I am a far more seasoned scripter, still not professional, but better. In the creation of this game I was bored greatly and that slowed down the progress of creation a lot. I now, on the contrary, have great ideas for the next installation but since I am now working on slightly more difficult, less repetitive programming I'm not sure if I would enjoy making the revolution as much as I would more challenging projects.

Please give me your opinion on this, would you like me to work on BFR (ButtonFinder: Revolution) or should I leave the buttonFinder series and swap my more challenging projects?
